Even though he can’t read, AJ already has a favourite author- he adores every Eric Carle book we have. Something about the bold illustrations makes him wiggle with excitement.
Written Cantonese and Jyutping Translation
Thanks to Cantonese for Families, I read ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?’ in Cantonese nearly everyday. I printed their translation to add to my English copy of the book. You can view my method here.
I am always so grateful to anyone who shares children’s resources in written Cantonese; they are the people who inspired me to start this blog and I especially recommend checking out Cantonese for Families.

Colouring Activities and Printables
To accompany the book, I have created a couple of activity sheets for your little one’s enjoyment. ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?’ is a fantastic book to learn the names of colours and animals so I focused the printables around cementing that knowledge.

Printable #1 – What Do You See? Spot the Animal
In this activity, children are given a check list of animals that feature in ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?’ Their task is to locate the animals from the menagerie on the page and colour them in. They can tick off their progress too.

Printable #2 – What Colour is that Animal? Match Up
This activity will test your child’s memory of the book and their knowledge of colours and animals. They must fill in the crayons with their labelled colours then connect the crayons to the corresponding animal. If completed correctly, the animals on the page should be the same colour as they appear in the book.
I hope you enjoyed my printables. What is your child’s favourite book? Feel free to make requests for the next set of printables I create. Happy reading!
