We are three weeks into our Sing and Sign class and today we will be learning key signs to play AJ’s favourite game, peekaboo.
Sign of the Week

This week, our key word is 邊度 bin1 dou6 | where. I’ve found I’ve been signing where a lot to AJ…
- E.g.1. 你嘅匙羹喺邊度?nei5 ge3 ci4 gang1 hai2 bin1 dou6? = Where is your spoon?
(I ask AJ this at least fifty times a day.)
- E.g.2. 媽咪喺邊度? maa1 mi4 hai2 bin1 dou6? = Where is mammy?
(Perfect for all those games of peekaboo!)
Bonus Signs
To make sure you are fully prepared for those games of peekaboo, here are the signs for mammy and daddy. They are based on the BSL (British Sign Language) alphabet. You sign M for mother and F for father.
If your family title isn’t mum or dad, then I would suggest picking a letter of the alphabet to represent you. So if you are non-binary, you may prefer to sign P for parent or to sign your first initial. After all, baby signing is all about creating a tailored method of communication within your family.

If you are learning along with me and AJ, here are our previous lessons and our Quizlet deck. Happy Sunday and happy signing!
