It’s nearly December and I have a Cantonese advent calendar to share that has a different Christmas craft each day. AJ is too young for a traditional chocolate advent calendar so I wanted to make something to help get him (and me) into the Christmas spirit!

Before we start, I want to apologise that I am sharing this on the last day of November as I have left you with no time to prep this advent calendar for your own family. I started making this advent calendar a month ago but it’s been a struggle to find the time to put it all together and write it down for you. I hope you still join us for a few days or put a pin in this post to have a go next year!
Creating the Advent Calendar
Supplies List
I made this calendar based on common craft materials that you most likely will have in your home already. Specifically, you will need:
- Coloured and white card
- Cardboard
- Sticky back plastic
- Tissue paper
- Paper plates
- Pipe cleaners
- Popsicle sticks
- Pom poms
- Cotton wool balls (white poms poms also work)
- Beads
- Playdough (DIY recipe here)
- Googly eyes
- Green yarn (pipe cleaners would also work)
- Tape
- Glue
- Scissors (AJ uses these toddler scissors)
- Baking powder and shaving foam (for one slightly messy activity)
- DIY advent calendar kit (or 24 large envelopes/sandwich bags will work)
Note: As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you. I promise to only link products I personally use and recommend.

The Activities
The activities are small 5-10 minute crafts with the bigger crafts planned on weekends days and the week before Christmas. All the activities are low-prep and low-mess (because you don’t need more on your to-do list on the run up to Christmas).
Grab the printable by clicking on the button below. I recommend printing on white cardstock.
Set Up
- Cut out each of instruction cards and place them in separate envelopes and bags.
- Add the craft supplies needed for each day. There may be day-specific prep (see Day by Day List below for clearer instructions)
- Label your bags with the date for each one and then display in your home, ready for your little one to dive in!
