AJ has just turned four (how time flies) and this is the year where I feel he will really understand what Mid-Autumn Festival is so I am leaning in. Here is a list of three easy-to-prep activities that AJ and I will be participating in!

Activity #1 – Play Dough Mooncakes
Whilst actual mooncakes are difficult to perfect, play dough ones are perfect for little chefs. I bought a cheap mooncake mould online – just pop a ball of play dough in and press! If you don’t have any play dough, here is the recipe I use to create my own.
Activity #2 – Colour-by-Numbers
A free, festive colour-by-numbers activity with a hidden picture that slowly reveals itself as your little one fills in each section. Perfect for younger children, this printable helps little ones with their numbers, colours, and fine-motor skills.

Activity #3 – Mooncake Fractions
A maths teacher, I loved using mooncakes to introduce fractions to AJ last year. This playful DIY magnet activity blends cultural celebration with hands-on learning, including how to say fractions in Cantonese.
If you try any of these activities, I would love to see some photos! Drop me a message on instagram or email mamabearcantonese@gmail.com. What are your plans for Mid-Autumn Festival?
