My apologies that it has been a short while since my last post. My weeks have been full of making busy books (email me if you would like to purchase a personalised copy) and soaking up what’s left of my maternity leave (I’m back at work tomorrow!)
Regular readers may know it’s a little goal of mine to sing more Cantonese songs that English to baby AJ so today, I’m bringing you a very catchy song that you have no excuse to not sing it to your littles ones twice a day!
The Toothbrushing Song
The Toothbrushing Song is a classic nursery rhyme and is sang to the tune of This Old Man. As with my other song sheets, I’ve included written Cantonese lyrics, jytuping, and a (rough) English translation. Translating isn’t my strongest skill but I can tell you for certain that the gist of the song is that brushing your teeth is important! The song sheet included a little maze activity and a QR code to the above video to encourage your little ones to interact with the song.
I plan to laminate a copy to display in my bathroom as a visual prompt to sing to AJ when I brush his teeth. Unfortunately, there are only two verses to the song so you have to sing it quite a few times (four by my count) to fill the target time of two minutes!
Baby Sign
If you are also doing baby sign language, this is the (very intuitive) sign for brushing your teeth:

What Cantonese songs do you know from your childhood? I didn’t know any as a child so I’m very interested in discovering more classic Chinese children’s songs. Please comment below!
